The Beginnings of My Latex/Rubber Fetish

Experiences

This post was originally published on my old blog on February 14, 2021.

This is something I’ve been meaning to write for years. I’ve seen posts from other bloggers and across forums and social media about how people first discovered their latex/rubber/glove fetish. Many times they were introduced to it by a partner or a film, but the majority of the community seems to have discovered their fetish at a young age.

I’m no different. Mine started when I was in elementary school, I suppose, although I can’t pinpoint an exact date or time period.

Early Experiences

As a kid, I was always fascinated by gloves. I remember thinking latex glove balloons were funny.

In late elementary school I had started to think about total enclosure, although I didn’t know the phrase at the time. I remember seeing parts of the Bubble Boy movie and similar concepts in cartoons, and I found the idea of being separated from the outside world intriguing.

Nothing really developed from there. A few years later, I remember getting a magic book in 5th or 6th grade, and as part of the materials for doing magic tricks there were some small squares of black latex. I messed around with those a bit, just stretching them and admiring the feeling. Clearly, I knew that I was interested in latex and rubber-like materials, but I didn’t really know why.

Teenage Years

Going into junior high, I really started to explore my fetish and I learned what it was for the first time. I’d seen gloves on TV and in movies, and I liked how they looked when people wore them. So, naturally, I stumbled upon gloving videos on YouTube. At the time, you had many creators on the platform who were dedicated to posting videos about gloves, latex/rubber catsuits, and other similar items like gas masks, vacbeds, and balloons. Many of the channels I had stumbled upon and watched online in about 8th-9th grade have since been deleted or terminated by YouTube, but some of them included Jake from the WWGFA. Latexprince, glovedboy9450, and many others.

Seeing these videos, I wanted to try gloves again myself. I’d worn them a little at school when doing community service projects or helping at events, but I never really had the chance to admire them. So, I started taking disposable latex gloves from the box my parents had for when we went camping, or glamping, in our RV. We were frequently in and out of the RV to get stuff during the summer, whether that was packing for trips or just getting stuff like badminton out. I’d quickly open the cupboard and steal a pair or two, hoping that no one would notice that any were missing (no one ever did to my knowledge, and my parents ended up throwing away the box when we sold the RV after a few years because they had become brittle).

I enjoyed wearing the latex gloves, although they were always too large for my hands. I wouldn’t ever keep them long, usually because they would rip. For the most part, I ignored my fetish. I spent more of my time doing homework, playing video games, or writing. So I was left with very little time for messing around with gloves or watching videos.

It stayed mostly the same through high school, with the exception that I probably watched more videos on YouTube than before. In 2013 I created my Instagram account @ LatexRocker to share my interest in gloves and to see if others would want to connect. Shockingly, people did.

When I created my account, I lied about my age and said I was 18 when I wasn’t, even though my profile wasn’t sexual in nature and those I followed only posted photos of gloves. I think it just felt wrong to me to have a profile about my fetish at that age, and I did get some comments early on that were suggestive, I was already very mature in high school, so I just ignored people and blocked them. It was around this time that I really felt like there was a larger community and that I wasn’t a freak for liking latex gloves. Seeing so many people just like me was encouraging.

I’d also created a YouTube channel the year prior, although I didn’t upload anything. I just used it to create a Favorites playlist and save videos that I liked watching. Unfortunately, most of them have been removed from YouTube or the channel was terminated.

In late junior high and early high school, I realized that I wasn’t just interested in latex and rubber gloves, but in latex and rubber in general. I saw photos of latex catsuits, and I was intrigued by the idea.

I also went through periods of uploading photos and then I’d go for months without logging in to any of my accounts. It stayed this way pretty much into the present because I’ve tried not to let my fetish rule my life. More on that later, though.

College Years

A photo that I took during my college years.

Right after graduating from high school, I started college, and I began to have more freedom and flexibility to get my hands on a few pairs of gloves and share them on Instagram and my own YouTube channel. I’ll admit, this still meant stealing from my parents or from school (I was a student employee, so I had access to a breakroom where boxes were located), but I had more freedom in the sense that I didn’t always have people hovering over me. I had free time to post photos and videos and share them with the world.

My audience began to grow, although I still did not fully embrace my fetish.

Of course, being in college I knew and understood now that my interest in latex and rubber had a sexual side. I began to think about one day having a relationship with someone who also loved latex and rubber, and I feared what would happen if I found someone and they didn’t share my interests or thought differently of me for it. So, I continued to keep my interests a secret.

Adult Years

Now into my 20s, I am starting to embrace my fetish more, though I still keep it under the radar from those who know me. Being an adult and having an income has allowed me to purchase boxes of gloves rather than steal a pair here and there, and the freedom to do as I please has allowed me more time to connect with the community and share my experiences.

Thanks for reading about the formation of my fetish. I am working on a longer piece about my entire story, which should be published as a separate page sometime soon.
